Comparative Study of the Photocatalytic Degradation of Crystal Violet Using Ferromagnetic Magnesium Oxide Nanoparticles and MgO-Bentonite Nanocomposite

In this work, the exploitation of synthesized magnesium oxide nanoparticles and MgO-bentonite nanocomposite as an effective photocatalyst has been reported. They were utilized to study their applicability for photocatalytic degradation crystal violet in wastewater. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectra, X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDX), transmission electron microscope (TEM) used characterization. The efficiency photocatalysts CV decomposition optimized terms several factors such pH, contact time, dose catalyst, dye concentration. maximum was found be 99.19% at optimum state pH value 7, using 0.2 g MgO NPs, while case nanocomposite, decreased 83.38%. reaction mechanism investigated scavenging process, revealing that holes majorly responsible CV. kinetic data suitable best fitted by pseudo-first-order model.
